SUMMER BRIDES - Susan Wiggs, Sherryl Woods and Susan Mallery

For Isabel Warton her dreams were finally coming true. The past was the past and she was marrying into an incredible family, a very large one and would be a part of something she had always dreamed of. Towards the end of a family shower who should show up on a Harley, leather jacket and long hair, her ex, Dan Black Horse, a Native American rock star who she walked out on five years earlier. Now he wanted to tell her things he should have years ago and so he insisted she climb on his motorcycle and he took her to his lodge located in a remote spot in Washington State.

She argued she wanted to forget the past but how could she forget everything between them, the good and the bad? She had wanted him to commit, to love her, she wanted it all and when he couldn't she walked away from the pain and the memories of what they had lost. Being half Native American and the way she was raised left it's mark on her. However, now she was not the shy, insecure woman she once was. She was faced with her emotions for Dan and then he did the thing she most dreaded, he entered a race and was injured.

Would they get their second chance? It took Dan being injured to see what was important to him and that was Isabel and her love for him. With that and marriage, they would be OK and get their second chance at love!

During her own bridal shower, Isabel Wharton is whisked away by past love Dan Black Horse to his retreat in the Cascade range. But returning to her Native roots, and Dan's loving arms, is harder than she ever imagined.
A Bridge to Dreams by Sherryl Woods was a very sweet and romantic love story with the hero being an ex-race car driver, quite a ladies man and worked for his father’s auto dealership who had been around to for less than it was worth, sold a red convertible to the very sweet Karyn Chambers because she moved something in him. Karyn had planned a trip to Hawaii, one she had save for over the past years and now she had to give up that dream because her current vehicle broke down and it would cost more than it was worth to fix it.

Karyn adored her family but they drove her crazy as her brothers were all very protective. When she realized she couldn’t go to Hawaii, Brad not only gave her a beautiful car he also wanted to put that beautiful smile back on her face so he offered to be her private guide of San Francisco and was going to take to places in the City that would have been somewhat similar to Hawaii. What neither one of them counted on was their immediate attraction to each other.

Their week together was magical until one of her brothers spotted her with Brad. Then a photographer photographed them together as he had recognized Brad as an ex-race car driver. What a mess on top of that they both suffered desire for each other and then after returning to his hotel it was obvious they both desired each other. Everything blew up in their faces especially for Karyn because she felt Brad was just as protective of her as her brother’s. However, this couple did get their happy ending when she was able to communicate her need for independence and her need for him to be permanent in her life. In the end, Karyn got her Prince Charming!

With her vacation plans foiled, Karyn Chambers realizes that her long-awaited escape must give way to staying at home in San Francisco. Little does she know her Prince Charming is right in her own backyard.

My favorite of the three bride stories was Susan Mallery’s Sister of the Bride as it is also part of the author’s Fools Gold Series and Mallery’s true sense of humour shown through with this “wacky” McCormick family.

Katie McCormick was faced with two situations she didn’t want to deal with, her sister was marrying her ex-boyfriend and the fact that her mother and her mother’s best friend son Howie the Geek…..both women wanted Katie to have Howie as her escort for the wedding. Talk about a disaster waiting to happen. A spoilt sister who only thought of herself, a crazy aunt who made moves on the groom’s father and then seeing Howie again after all of those years ago when she was forced to see him due to the mom’s.

What a shock when “the geek” arrived but now he was one “hot” male specimen, one very hot and rich man who now went by the name Jackson and who was a very successful business man who came by his wealth by developing an inventory control computer program.

Katie grew up in Fools Gold, majored in communications and was a sports reporter for the local paper. She loved her work and her family but was so not looking forward to her sister’s wedding because her sister wasn’t happy unless there was drama and trust me there was a ton of it during the weekends festivities. Most importantly, the sensual tension between Katie and Jackson was amazing, coupled with the bride and groom fighting, the crazy aunt and the hot weekend affair Katie and Jackson experienced.

Katie was a wonderful daughter, sister and Jackson thought her to be special. His protective side came out because for some reason her family loved to criticize her flaws. To Jackson, Katie was beautiful, lovely and he really wanted her!

What wedding drama, the crazy aunt, a missing and very drunk groom, the drama queen the bride to be, Jackson’s ex-girlfriend who was enlisted to help with the wedding cake and Katie thought after spending the night with Jackson that she was head over heels for him. As for Jackson, he was overwhelmed with his feelings as well and wanted to protect Katie. Could this be the real thing? Would this darling couple get their happy ending?

Again, author Susan Mallery delivered a fun, emotional and powerful love story giving her heroine her knight in shining armour. You won’t want to miss Sister of the Bride nor the other three books is Susan Mallery’s Fools Gold Series.

Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery (Foos Gold)

When Katie McCormick finds out that her sister is marrying her ex, she finally agrees to a setup for the big day. To her surprise, Jackson is a catch. But when wedding catastrophe ensues, will their sparks fizzle or ignite into flames?
