About the Author:

I was born in London where I did my nursing training, then I came to Australia for a holiday...I now live in Melbourne's outer suburbs with my 3 fab children, one needy cat and one even needier dog. I'm a Taurus (with Taurus rising) but I still think I'm more a Gemini. My mum and sisters are in the UK. I miss them every day and always will, but we speak all the time on the phone and lie convincingly about our... weight, gym attendances, caffeine intake, carbs (the list goes on) - the usual stuff and I get back as often as I can.

Nursing was my first love but I always hankered towards writing romance and was lucky enough to have my first book accepted by Harlequin Mills and Boon in 2000. I write for both the Medical and Modern/Sexy/Presents lines (depending which country you're reading this from). I have two other half written, often thought about stories that live in my head and on my computer called Redhead and Goldfish that I fiddle with now and then. There is a third but it doesn't have a name yet.

Writing, I have decided, is the perfect job for me because I worry about EVERYTHING (honestly). Give me a straightforward problem and I can in a matter of minutes think of a zillion things that could go wrong - so now I put that energy to good use and worry about my heroes and heroines and am in the enviable position of being able to ensure a good outcome.

Real life, of course, is never quite as assured.

THE END OF FAKING IT - Natalie Anderson

Carter Dodds and Penny met is a most unusual way…..she thought he was an intruder and he thought she was stealing from his family friend Mason. Mason had hired him to investigate someone helping themselves to the company funds.

The attraction was immediate for both of them. Carter was quite handsome and well built and he intrigued Penny. She liked to have a good time like everyone else but she was always careful to let the person she shared her body with know that commitment was definitely not something she was interested in and that she always walked away. She also liked to be in charge. Therefore, when this handsome stranger kissed her, he made her feel dangerous things in fact on a daily basis they flirted, touched and it was obvious they would end up in the bedroom.

From the very beginning Carter knew he was in trouble kissing and touching her would never be enough. He would only be in town a few weeks max so why not have a little fun and bed this sexy little PA. She was magnificent, so full of fire, a great body, someone he wanted in his bed and then would walk away and go back home to Melbourne.

To complicate matters, being around her he constantly wanted to touch her and then her brother came into town and Penny panicked. She had lied to her family about having a boyfriend and she had asked Carter to play the part. However, it backfired on them both playing like they had been together for months. I wondered what was the deal of her not wanting to go home to see her family and friends and why did she always move? Carter also wondered, after he checked her personnel file and there was some secret she was hiding. Why did she move from city to city and job to job every 6 months? Let’s just say it was something extremely sad.

Carter was an amazing lover, so careful to pleasure Penny. He suspected she might have a problem because she always wanted to be in charge. He was perfect in every way, spoiled her by cooking, actually enjoyed her company and all I could think of was how well matched they were especially for two people who didn’t want commitment. Then everything changed when her brother came to say goodbye and spilled the beans to Carter. She had been lying to him and in the short space of time they had spent together, he actually cared for her more than he wanted to and she had become important to him.

Carter found out who was involved in cheating Mason’s company. Yes, he should go home but he did not want to, he still wanted to spend some time with Penny. Then I thought the rules have changed. Penny’s relationships were always short lived and she moved on….but why? Who had hurt her so much or how? As for Carter, the man who did not trust women because of the past, now he wanted more, he wanted Penny and he wanted her to be honest with him, he wanted it all!

Knowing her “secret” made me wonder if Penny would ever find happiness. In the past, if a woman wanted something from Carter, he walked. So now he was prepared to give his all but Penny was determined not to want it. Therefore, when it all came tumbling out I held my breath and it was horrible to read because it was so obvious that Penny needed someone to love her.

Well, Natalie Anderson’s title was spot on….The End of Faking It, because that’s how Penny had lived her life until Carter came in to it not only showing her what her body had never felt, sexual satisfaction he also gave Penny her life back by loving her and bringing her absolute happiness!

Book Description:

But after some scorching nights with Penny, ‘no-strings’ Carter has changed his tune – Penny’s not faking anything in his bed, but getting her to admit her true feelings for him out in the real world is a whole new challenge…

TORTURED RAKE (Bad Blood series) - Sarah Morgan

Nathaniel Wolfe was Hollywood’s heartthrob and every woman’s fantasy. Now he was in England to play King Richard not in the movies but in the theater. He was going to knock them dead with his performance. Therefore, on opening night when he saw a familiar face, one from his past, he went a little crazy. With the help of the costume designer Katie Field, they both escaped on her scooter and went to her apartment. However, someone got wind Nathaniel was at Katie’s and so with his brother’s help they went to a secluded island.

Katie Field was so unlike her model sister. She had curves and her dream was to be a famous costume designer. Nathaniel made her nervous in ways she could not explain. He was so handsome and had the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen. However, she wondered where the real man was because he was such a clever actor. In addition, the fact sparks flew between them every time they brushed hands

It was so hot on their private island and Katie did not want to wear any of the bikini’s that had been provided for her. However, Nathaniel had other ideas and so he took her snorkeling. However, a party on a nearby boat the parents were not paying attention and a little girl nearly drowned and Nathaniel saved her. However, not without cost to him because his past all came blasting back into his life and he remembered his tortured childhood. The mask came off him and Katie actually saw the real man not the actor.

Nathaniel had spent his adult acting, which had quickly become an escape and now it was a disguise. Honestly, he had no trouble trying to forget his tortured past until the accident on the water and it all came flooding back. His horrible father, his mother, all of his father’s wives, his brothers and sisters, it had all been a nightmare and one he did not want to remember. Now he wondered why after all of these years his brother was back.

Nathaniel confided his sordid past to Katie, told her all of it, and actually he let her see him as a man. There was one thing for sure, she wanted to comfort him, and she in the end, gave herself to him and her virginity. When the solitude of the island became too much, he took her to Rio. She saw his charity, his drama school for the barrio children and she wanted him to see first handed the amazing opportunity he was providing for these children. He had already told her back on the island that he only did short term affairs but could this be more than that for both of them I wondered?

However, without any warning he took her to Hollywood because of the upcoming Sapphire Awards and everything from that moment on went down the tube. Nathaniel wouldn’t return his brother’s calls, he was still running from his past and actually from Katie and their relationship. Her parting comments to him before returning home to England were “in order to move forward you need to go back”.

Katie was not the only one to return to England. Nathaniel went back to Wolfe Manor to face his demons and in the end, his brother he had not seen in twenty years. I wondered how he could possibly survive his tortured past?

He survived seeing his brother, survived remembering all of it and that was thanks to Katie Fields. Because she believed and loved the man not the movie star. And in the end because of her he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her as his wife.

Nathaniel’s story was the first one in the Bad Blood series one I am sincerely looking forward to reading.

Sarah talks about this book on a Mills and Boon Blog

Princess From the Past was an interesting royal romance. I loved how author Caitlin Crews depicted her “princess” from an angry young woman who had felt neglected to a now mature woman with a mind of her own.

Three years later after leaving her husband Prince Leo, Bethany was summoned back to Italy because she wanted a divorce and Leo insisted she return home to Italy. However, her husband was not going to have any of it! A lot of blame, accusations, name calling and on top of that sexual tension that neither could deny was like a ping pong match between them and then some.

So, would they end their marriage or see it for what is was? Their childhoods, how they were raised, their losses, hurts all played a heavy part in this royal romance. There were a ton of arguments, tension that coiled between them; royal duties that stood in the way and Bethany wanting it to all go away.

While reading this I thought about the royal wedding coming up and the “duty bound” prince and how could this possibly affect his upcoming marriage? The “forgotten princess” about summed it up as far as Bethany was concerned. Will it be that way for Kate Middleton? Because that was what caused Bethany to flee home to Toronto because if she had not left, she would have withered away.

Leo, at one time had swept her off her feet when they met quite by chance in Hawaii. When he should have married a more suitable “princess”, he had married her and she had been so very young and immature. However, he was not without blame. Groomed for the crown by an unemotional father, a mother with problems and his being swept into his duties and family.

Well, the last chapters were certainly interesting, with a ton of tension and passion, accusations and hope, yes hope because Leo couldn’t imagine why now of all things, Bethany would want to walk away and divorce him. In the end, she had to realize she had never let go, that she loved him. As for Prince Leo, he had hope that they could build something together, forget the past, and move forward. Yes, the princess and and prince did, in the end, get their Cinderella happy ending!

Book Description:

The forgotten princess…

Behind the imposing walls of the castle, free-spirited Bethany Vassal discovered that her whirlwind marriage to Prince Leo Di Marco was nothing like the fairytale she had imagined. Before long the forgotten princess ran away, hoping the man she fell in love with would one day see sense and come and find her…

Marrying Bethany is the only reckless thing Leo has ever done, and now he is paying the price. The time has come for him to produce a royal heir – and Bethany must return to the castle whence she fled!

Author Caitlin Crews has written a very bold and beautiful romance, just like her heroine Tristanne Barbery in Katrakis’s Sweet Prize.

Tristanne had a problem, an abusive step-brother with an agenda. He wanted his half sister, Tristanne to hook up with a very rich businessman, get her self noticed and photographed in the tabloids. Having her seen with someone so important would bolster his business and make his investors more confident. In return, Peter would give her the trust fund she needed to take care of her frail mother’s debts.

However, what her brother Peter didn’t count on was that she would go after his arch rival Nikos Katrakis. While attending a party on the Katrakis yacht, she walked right up to him and after some small talk, asked if she could be his mistress. It was almost comical to read because it was very obvious by her remarks and behaviour she had never been anyone’s mistress.

Nikos Katrakis hated Peter Barbery with a vengeance because he was the cause of his sister’s death. What surprised him was Peter’s sister’s proposition. Well he’d just take her up on her offer. What he didn’t count on was that she would be so lacking in the mistress department. Revenge was his motive yet their attraction to each other was powerful and explosive. All I could think of was what would come of their relationship because their was so much emotion involved and powerful and mutual desire between them. Yes, Tristanne was strong, strong enough to choose her own path in life, to walk away from her father and step-brother, earn an art history degree and move to Vancouver, B.C. But would she be strong enough not to get hurt in the end?

Holding my breath I knew it would only be a matter of time before they made love and it was so full of emotion and tenderness. One thought came to her mind, she would never be free of this man and he would haunt her forever. She knew the truth between them even though Nikos would never speak of them. He was so very tender with her and she loved him. He spoke of his father and sister and of his mother who had abandoned him and how he came up the hard way in the streets. And daily she drew sketches of him.

Then I wondered how Nikos would seek his revenge on her brother Peter. Because now they were intimate, so what more could happen? “Marry me” he said and boy was I shocked because how far would he go to revenge his family? More than anything she wanted to marry him but first the truth, all of it. What Peter had asked her to do for the sake of his business, and her need for her trust fund to protect her mother…….all of it! Yet still he wanted to marry her and I thought that was his revenge but how could he? Would he humiliate Tristanne to get the revenge he craved for three of the deaths caused by her family?

Well Nikos got his revenge and she couldn’t believe it especially how they began in Florence, what had passed between them over the days and weeks. Especially when only the night before she had declared her love for him. Then humiliations of being stood up at the alter. However, inner strength she didn’t know she had caused her to gather up herself and her mother and return back home to Vancouver.

She knew he’d show up in Vancouver because that was the man he was and in spite of herself she still loved him even though he had left her broken hearted and devastated. So what now? In the end, she was the only woman who had believed in him and yet he hurt her and could he explain why he left her standing at the altar? It was a moving and emotional ending and my heart ached for this proud man, a man who had never known love, who had been abandoned but in the arms of his Tristanne, the woman who loved him, he knew they had a chance at happiness.

Over at I(Heart)Presents, Caitlin talks about Katrakis's Sweet Prize

Book Description:

Notorious Nikos Katrakis was looking for a new woman to bed when, out of the blue, heiress Tristanne Barbery offered herself to him. Could satisfaction and revenge really be that easy to obtain?

Tristanne knew better than to play games with a man of such devastatingly lethal charisma as Nikos. But, though she had a good idea of the kind of sacrifice she was offering, she had no choice.

To Nikos's surprise, Tristanne was not the weak, biddable good-time girl he'd expected…and soon his plans for vengeance came crumbling down around him!

THE PRINCE'S PREGNANT BRIDE (Royal Rebels) - Jennifer Lewis

The Prince’s Pregnant Bride was the first book in the Royal Rebels series. Author Jennifer Lewis wove an interesting royal romance set in a lovely Pacific paradise.

AJ Rahia was quite the prince now a Hollywood producer. Now fate had stepped in where it was not wanted because his older brother, the King was presumed dead but his body had not been found. Due to tradition, it meant AJ was expected to become King and marry the royal wife. It was position he did not want. Could life possibly become more complicated? For God ’s sake, he had a life in Hollywood and he did not want to walk in his brother’s shadow.

Lani Rahia secretly was glad her husband was missing and possibly dead because she had a secret. The man was a monster and had treated her horribly throughout her marriage. On the eve of his disappearance he had assaulted her both with words and physically and her worse fear was that he had made her pregnant.

Maybe for Vanu, his brother, he enjoyed being King but not for AJ. When he left Rahiri, he thought he would only return to visit occasionally not that he would rule it! His mother wanted him to marry his brother’s wife and to become king but how could he do it and to a woman he didn’t know? What a mess! Even though the sparks flew between them, would it be enough?

Lani was lovely, sweet and AJ definitely was attracted to her but could he marry her? She also had a secret she shared with her mother-in-law, she was expecting the Vanu’s baby. If she shared that fact it would be the baby would be the heir to the throne. Could or would she keep this secret from AJ? In the end, she could not and it was should we, could we what were they going to do?

It was like a roller coaster until they found the King’s body but not before they made love. Talk about complicated but there was one thing for sure, AJ was definitely NOT going to walk in his brother’s shadow.

The Prince’s Pregnant Bride had an action packed happy ending. It took AJ returning back to LA to realize what he could have lost due to his pride and a most romantic reunion for the two of them. From landing an airplane on the palace grounds to making love in the throne room a pretty explosive ending. I am looking forward to reading more Royal Rebels.

Book Description:

It took only one kiss from his brother's widow to set AJ Rahia's soul on fire—and set him closer to assuming his brother's throne. Tradition would have the prince turned Hollywood producer marry his brother's wife…but could he accept his brother's unborn child as his own?

Lani Rahia was caught between two men—her dead husband and the future king. By telling the truth about one, would she lose the other? She'd been snared in a marriage of convenience before. This time, she wouldn't settle for such pretense—for her or her child. Instead, she'd have a lifetime of AJ's love…or nothing.

Cupcakes and Killer Heels immediately had me hooked that meant reading it cover to cover... I could tell Ruby Delisantro was going to be one unbelievable and sexy heroine. One got the impression she was always in the “relationship” driving seat and immediately I knew she would be one sassy, sexy red-hot female and would be more than a hand full. She definitely would give as good as she got, so lookout alpha hero, you are in for the ride of your life! Honestly, Heidi Rice immediately captivated me with only a couple of pages of reading under my belt

Ruby had one important day ahead of her, she was meeting with a chef that could put her cupcake business on the map and it had taken her months to secure this appointment and then everything went down the drain. =-An incredible man with his expensive car rear-ended her VW bug and that put her in a tailspin. Of course, she was late for her appointment and did not secure the deal she and her best friend and partner hoped to secure.

Gorgeous, well built, rich, sexy did not even describe the man behind the wheel; Callum Westmore was not only telling her off, he was turning her on. She had no time to flirt but that did not stop her from doing so and I just knew they were going to be to “hot” together because they certainly had the chemistry and both wanted to be in the “driver’s seat”. Score one the sexy barrister Callum as he tracked her down, asked her out, let her think she was taking the lead, and let her choose the place their first date would take place. A salsa bar, hot music, sexy dancing, with Callum leading them in a dance and setting the scene for one hot romance. Let’s just say, this couple sizzle, they combust and they are electric together and in the end, I wondered who would win because they both wanted to be in control.

Cal’s sister Maddy adored him and wanted to see him more, spend time with her, her husband and his niece. It was her daughter’s birthday and she expected him to attend the party but it was painful for them both and I hoped he would invite Ruby to go along. He did and then I remembered, in another romance Heidi had written Maddy’s story and we got a short glimpse of Callum in Surf, Sea and the Sexy Stranger We also got to know the sexy surfer Ryan King and the woman who saved him, Maddy.

Ruby was proud of what she had achieved but she also realized Cal was educated, successful, rich, charming and too much in control. She enjoyed her time at the manor, adored Cal’s niece and sister and was scared about her feelings because their passion for each other was fierce. And then he admitted the most ridiculous thing, he didn’t believe in love and had never been in love. Ruby was shocked and wondered who had hurt him. And then he revealed a childhood secret about his parents and she was shocked and so was I, reader of this emotional romance.

Some good things happened over the “birthday” weekend. Callum and his sister talked, really talked and everything came tumbling out. He knew Ruby felt things, things he wasn’t ready to address, probably would never be able to address. However, his secret was so shocking and I wondered how this successful man had been able to push aside this family secret and at what cost and would it be for Ruby? For both of them, the weekend had been too much and it cost them both dearly.

They were so perfect for each other but who would make the first move? Ruby realized one important thing; what her parents had, what Callum’s sister and her husband had was true love. It was taking risks, taking a chance, giving your entire self to someone. However, I wondered what sort of a chance they had because Callum was so affected by his parents and their secret. Would Ruby and her love for him be enough? Well she definitely drove him crazy and she messed up his life. In the end they got their happy ending and it was definitely one you absolutely won’t want to miss.

Never have I laughed and cried so much while reading a romance. Cupcakes and Killer Heels will also make my Top Ten List for 2011. Simply, it was a stunning and explosive romance thanks to Heidi Rice. It was for me not only moving and fun, it was just a romance I did not want to end and one will be worth keeping” and I will read again.

Book Description:

Ruby Delisantro never blushes… …but after one glance from the infuriating Callum Westmore’s bedroom eyes she’s flushed redder than a glacé cherry. Her body has the right idea, for now Callum’s convertible has crashed into her life nothing will ever be the same…

Cupcake baker Ruby has always been in the driving seat when it comes to relationships, but something tells her that Callum sees straight through her snappy one-liners to her soft-as-buttercream heart beneath. For Ruby’s in danger of losing control and – worse still – of liking it!

Kate Hewitt charmed with me with The Undoing of De Luca;taking a billionaire playboy and a young woman who couldn’t let go of her family home and weaving together a most amazing romance. I couldn’t wait to read this particular story after reading Kate’s post at I(Heart) Presents concerning defining moments in one’s life whether good or bad. And for this couple they both had “closec hearts” due to the actions of each of their fathers.

Ellery Dunant and Larenz de Luca, her house guest shared something in common. His mother had been the mistress to a wealthy man and his housekeeper. Whereas, Ellery’s father had lived a double life and not until he died did she and her mother find out her father had a mistress and a son as well. Now this sexy playboy and his assistant are staying at her family home, Maddock Manor. Once Ellery discovered what her father had done, she decided never to give her heart to a man. As for Larenz, the same thing because when he was fourteen he went to see his father only to be told “I don’t know you”.

Ellery’s mother had allowed her to stay at the manor and she was renting out rooms, sort of a bed and breakfast but not for much longer. The place was falling down around her. However, Larenz’s assistant had an idea for his high end department stores, to have a photo shoot at the manor and pay Ellery handsomely for the use of her home. The money at least, would help to make the much needed repairs and allow her to stay for a little while longer until she could move forward with her life.

Larenz was a magnificent alpha and he unsettled Ellery. After his assistant left and he had the time to really look at Ellery and her manor. He felt an amount of pity for her and that angered him because she had come from a privileged background and he had worked so hard to pull himself out of the gutter. This woman intrigued him. He always got what he wanted and he wanted her. He also knew she was attracted to him and it would only be a matter of time. He was right, it only took hours when they were alone until they made love before the fire and he took her virginity.

Reflecting back on her home and childhood, sometimes she hated the manor because it caused her to doubt who she was and why she stayed. And then just when Ellery thought he was going to leave her and return to his busy life, Larenz asked her to go away with him for a week. Why he didn’t know but there was one thing for sure, he wasn’t ready to let her go. It was to be a fling, a fling she could end and walk away from any time. But as the days went on, she didn’t want to leave. Larenz was confused because Ellery with her violet eyes confused him and somehow she could see right into his soul. She made him want to tell her things he had never told anyone. But is more than that, he felt a little guilty for taking her virginity and was determined to cheer her up by spoiling her a little and then he could ease his conscience and let her return home.

When they arrived in Milan, he left her to attend to some business and gave her spa treatments, bought her a lovely ball gown, diamonds, really spoiled and pampered her. And then while attending a function in a high end hotel in Milan, she overhead two women talking about her, using the word she most hated “mistress”. For her this word reminded her of her father’s betrayal.  That reminded her she was behaving just like her father’s mistress. It was so painful to remember her father and the aftermath when she and her mother found out his secret.  So that evening in their hotel suite, Ellery told Larenz the sordid story. And then he realized something, he didn’t want this to end and so he told her things he had never shared with anyone.

Larenz had no idea why he was taking her to the palazzo he now owned, the one that had belonged to his father. The very same father who denied him and sent him away as a boy. He also took her to meet his mother. So after all of that emotion, it gave me hope for this couple because it was so obvious that Ellery loved and adored Lorenz. However, she also wondered if they ever could move forward? Was Larenz the man he was today because of his father’s rejection and would he ever be able to have a relationship or even love? However the moment came when he realized she had slipped past his defences and she touched him in ways no other person ever had. And then believe it or not, it was over, just like that and he sent Ellery away.

Heartbroken her first stop was to visit her mother and then home only to encounter the photo shoot which made a mockery of her manor. They made it into a ghost house. To add salt to the wound, Larenz showed up to present her with a check. Talk about upsetting and I only thought foolish man because this woman moved you like no other and when would he realize it? Weeks later, he found her at her apartment and I held my breath because would he realize he had closed off his heart and that because of her, it was now open to love? Kate Hewitt gave these two their beautiful ending because neither of them were alone or afraid; they both opened up their hearts were simply able to admit their love!

The undoing of the playboy…

Just one night…but for Larenz it doesn't turn out to be enough. Is his unworldly housekeeper going to be his undoing?

Spirit, sass and spunk is what I adore in a heroine and Abby Green has outdone herself in Breaking The Sheikh’s Rules, her first venture into writing the sheikh genre. It’s an amazing sensual journey you’ll take with Sheikh Nadim and Iseult O’Sullivan.

Sheikh Nadim Bin Kalid Al Saqur was quite the ruler and he was in the process of purchasing the O’Sullivan Stud Farm. In fact not only the farm but the O’Sullivan home, along with the services of Paddy, Isuelt O’Sullivan and their housekeeper, plus their prize two year old magnificent horse, Devil’s Kiss. What he didn’t count on was he would be on the receiving end of her smart mouth. No one, but no one talked to him in the manner this sassy redhead did; she not only challenged him she intrigued him. In the end, the plan was to move his racing and breeding horse program to Ireland and to make sure Iseult returned home with him to Merkazad along with Devil’s Kiss to assist in training the prize horse.

What an excuse, to have her return home to his country and see her daily. What a mistake, but he couldn’t help himself because he desired her. He didn’t do love nor relationships. He would have a mistress from time to time but that was the extent of his love life. At one time he had been married. But his wife and unborn child died, due to a horse riding accident. However, this young and spirited woman stirred things inside him and until he figured it out and got her out of his system, he wasn’t going to get much sleep.

It all happened to fast, the sale of the farm, her relocation to Merkazad and being installed in employee housing. Then of course, her being part of his training team. Iseult was confused by her feelings for this handsome sheikh. As he pointed out, when he purchased O’Sullivan’s, he owned all of them including Iseult! He was larger than life and she felt the sensual pull, especially when he was too near, touched her and then kissed her. While working with Devil’s Kiss there was an incident which made Sheikh Nadim angry and gave him the perfect excuse to move her to his castle. Sparks flew every time they were together and in the end on a horse buying trip to look at Arabian’s, they finally both had had enough. An innocent “harem dance” led to them making love in his tent, and this virgin’s fate was sealed. Honestly, it was like something out of the Arabian Knights!

Because Nadim was her first, he reminded her he didn’t do love or commitment. She was reminded of an earlier conversation when he revealed he did not love his wife and their’s had been a marriage of convenience. So when she agreed to be his mistress, he was very firm their relationship would be over when he said so! What an arrogant Sheikh! I only hoped she would remember her conversation with her boss, the head trainer Jamilah and family friend of the Al Saqur’s. Jamilah warned Iseult the Al Saqur’s were ruthless and she knew it first hand because she had once been involved with Nadim's younger brother.

Back at the palace they resumed their love making; however he didn’t stay the night with her and she realized then that he had the power to hurt and destroy her. There were other changes, her co-workers treated her differently, so did Lina her maid and her sheikh didn’t like it when she wasn’t there waiting for him. However, there was something about her; he realized was special . Nadim felt comfortable with her and shared more with her than he had with anyone. In a way, I personally thought they were somewhat alike as they had both been thrown into taking responsibility for their family……Iseult for her family and horse farm and he for his family and country.

Holding my breath, I wondered what would become of their affair because Sheikh Nadim was so adamant they didn’t have a future together. Plus the fact that their world's were so different from each others. When would it end and how? Simply, Iseult ended it because she couldn’t continue and spilled her emotions.... she loved him! Shock would be the word I would use to describe his reaction to her confession..... “I’ve fallen in love with you” . Then disbelief because she was leaving him, followed by anger. However, Abby Green gave this desert lord and sassy Irish lass a brilliant and happy ending. It was hard to believe this was Abby Green's first sheikh book.

Be on the lookout for Sheikh Nadim’s brother’s story in Secrets of the Oasis. It’s his younger brother Salman and his family friend Jamilah Moreau, Nadim's head horse trainer. You’ll get a short glimpse of the emotion and tension brewing between this couple, towards the end of Breaking the Sheikh’s Rules.

Book Description:

The huge imposing castle and the barren terrain of Merkazad are a far cry from the modest farm and the emerald fields that horsewoman Iseult calls home. Or used to, until Sheikh Nadim bought her family's stud farm. As part of the deal, she must work at his royal stables….

Nadim enrages Iseult…but he also inspires a more unwelcome, unfamiliar feeling: desire. Drawn into Nadim's sensual world, Iseult feels like a beautiful, confident woman for the first time.

But she must remember the sheikh's cast-iron rule….

THE DEVILS HEART - Lynn Raye Harris

The Devil’s Heart was an amazing romance by USA Today Bestselling author Lynn Raye Harris. So much emotion and all over a yellow diamond heirloom necklace.

They had a history, more than a history. At one time they had been married. Francesca D’Oro was only eighteen when she married Marcos Navarre and it only lasted a few hours. Now she was on a mission because Marcos was back in the US. She needed to steal the necklace in order to help Jacques, a man who was like a father to her, a man who if he did not get the proper care, would die.

Marcos couldn’t believe after all of these years that Francesca was back in his life. When he met her, her father possessed the Corazon del Diablo (The Devil’s Heart). Now he owned it but still the past memories came flooding back for both of them. Francesca thought he felt sorry for her when he married her the first time because her mother and sister were superficial, only thinking of themselves and she felt excluded. Plus the fact that at that age she was 40 pounds heavier. After her father died, it was Jacques who was like a father to her, he was family and she was desperate to get the necklace so she could sell it for his treatment. But it was all about the necklace, the necklace his uncle had stolen and sold to her father. And I kept wondering why it was so important to Marcos and in later chapters learned why and it was extremely emotional to read.

Whether he had to drag her on board his jet, Marcos came up with a plan, he would force Francesca to sign a contract, marry him for few months, pay for Jacques treatment and return home to Buenos Aires. She at first was appalled by the idea, but in the end, agreed because he agreed to provide the finances to help Jacques. They were married and it was awkward for her. He was such a man of mystery, he had a strange tattoo he refused to talk about, he was in charge of a charity to benefit the “street kids” which was important to him but kept at first, the reasons to himself. It was Marcos passion to to take care of the orphans, his life’s work to provide stability and opportunity for these orphans. He also didn’t want to talk about his childhood, especially his parents death and that bothered her as well. However, the sexual tension between them kept growing and at times was confusing.

Francesca and Marcos both had secrets. She the baby she lost and the man who deserted her, plus the fact that she couldn’t have children. And he, well his parents death, where he spent his youth, his uncles betrayal and more. Right after their marriage and the charity event, he took her to his winery in Mendoza for a honeymoon and to visit his sister and her family. All I can say is the ensuing chapters were very emotional to read because they both shared so much of their past life. Plus the fact that at this winery in Mendoza some of the “street children” worked and one especially stole Francesca’s heart, both she and her infant son. And then the worse possible thing happened, the young mother ran away, leaving behind the baby. Due to loosing her own baby it was hard for Francesca to help care for him but in the end, both she and Marcos not only cared for him along with the staff, they both shared so much more, they shared a bed and talked about their pasts and what had gone on in each other’s lives after their first marriage ended.

What was worse, Marcos couldn’t understand his feelings for Francesca. He had brought her to Argentina to punish her for talking the “Devil’s Heart” and to “cement his possession of it”. He had definitely not brought her there to let her worm her way through his defenses. But she definitely saw through him and to the heart of things as no other person had and I knew it was because she had fallen in love with him again. As for Francesca she adored him, more than that, she loved him. “He felt things deeply and acted with more dignity and morality than anyone she’d ever known.” She knew despite his loss and pain and horrible childhood, he had dedicated himself to helping others.

Honestly, I thought this couple had a chance and maybe a chance to adopt the baby boy who was left behind the winery. But as Marcos had told her, he didn’t do love, wasn’t capable of it. But I wondered how could that be when he was so devoted to the orphans of Buenos Aires. But she seriously thought he wouldn’t want to stay married to a woman who couldn’t have children plus the fact he woudn’t take the baby back home with them, he was going to find a home for him. So heartbreaking to read because Francesca felt he didn’t have any feelings for her. As for Marcos, he felt because of his damaged past he had nothing to offer. So she told him she was going home and because she knew the necklace was important to him, she signed a statement stating it belonged to him.

The ending chapter was beautiful to read because Marcos realized he couldn’t live without Francesca and that he was tired of being a prisoner to his past. He wanted her to come home, more forward and have them both raise Armando, the little baby boy from Mendoza. However, more important, “the devil’s heart” meant nothing to him without the love of his heart, Francesca!

JESS'S PROMISE - Lynne Graham

I have been such a fan of author Lynne Graham and she certainly has outdone herself with Jess’s Promise, the last book in her Secretly Pregnant, Conveniently Wed trilogy. It was an amazing romance and lots of twists and turns, especially the ending.

Jessica Martin was the only woman who ever had the courage to say no to Cesario di Silvestri and still he wanted her. Cesario was outraged with he found out his prize painting had been stolen from his English manor. Therefore, he returned home to get to the bottom of things and secretly hoped he would see the woman who intrigued him, Jessica.

Jessica was a veterinarian and she adored her little tribe of dogs she had rescued. Due to an attack by a deranged male while attending university, she played down her appearance.  She didn't wear make up nor wear fancy clothes.  One could find her wearing jeans, boots and an old jacket.   For the most part was not interested in having a relationship and she was definitely a virgin. She put all of her love and devotion into caring for her animals and loving her family. She realized she would probably never marry or have children. But she had a definite problem, her father admitted to giving his security card to her cousin’s so they could enter Cesario’s manor, to take pictures and sell them to the local gossip magazine. However, now Jess and her father suspected her cousin’s were the thieves of the missing painting.

Jess heard that Cesario had returned home and was determined to make sure her father wasn’t charged with the crime. However, Cesario had other ideas and a plan and I about fell out of my chair when I read what it was and wondered if Jess would go along with it. This Italian billionaire had only loved one woman and she was now married to his cousin who he loved like a brother. Jessica couldn’t believe her ears when Cesario said he wouldn’t press charges but in order to keep his promise to her, she would need to keep a promise to him. Marry him and provide him with an heir. If she were willing to have his son or daughter, they could in the end, divorce and share custody of the child. She couldn’t believe her ears but in the end she agreed because she loved her family and then had been through so much during the past years when her mother had been fighting cancer.

Jess played down her beauty due to her past at university. However, Cesario wasn’t having it because she was so beautiful to him and he demanded she dress the part due to his social status. They had a fairy tale wedding and weeks together in Italy on their honeymoon. However, it was much more than that because Jess in love with her husband, even though he told her he could never love her back. They explored Italy, shared meals with his cousin and wife, spent lazy days together making love and then Jess suspected she was pregnant but she didn’t want to tell her husband because that would mean their marriage could possibly be over or would it? However, she overhead a conversation between her husband and his ex lover and wondered if they were having an affair? They returned home to England only to be told that Cesario had to return to Italy on business.

Jess confirmed she was pregnant when she returned home.  However, she also got confirmation her husband had been lying to her. I wondered what was the secret he shared with his sister-in-law? Because I could not believe that he had not fallen in love with Jess on their honeymoon.  Let me just say the secret was shocking! More than shocking, it was tragic! Would this couple get their happy ending? Would Jessica get her heart broken? Lynne Graham in the final pages of Jess’s Promise had me sitting on the edge of my chair wondering how this couple would resolve their situation.  This couple deserved a happy ending because each of them in their own way were strong, strong enough to endure what ever came their way.

NOT FOR SALE - Sandra Marton

Not for Sale was just another stunning romance by Sandra Marton.

The first chapters reading about the ruthless billionaire Lucas Viera had me chuckling as Lucas was in a bit of a “predicament”. He really wanted a particular deal he was working on with a Russian billionaire and his voluptuous Russian wife who was acting also as his interpreter. However, Lucas had a problem, the woman was playing footsie under the table, and he could not afford any mistakes. On top that his mistress had up and left him and he needed not only an interpreter himself, he needed a woman to pretend to be his girlfriend. One of his sleazy managers said he knew someone who fit the bill. Lucas was skeptical, but could not turn down the offer, as he needed her professional services immediately. The manager called his female friend who was a high paid call girl plus the fact she was also learning to be an interpreter. However, she had a hot date so she remembered a young woman who was in her class, called her, convinced her to take both jobs and off Caroline Hamilton went to meet her future employer.

I loved the fact that Caroline was not only independent; she was excellent in her profession as an interpreter. Things were not easy for her and she really needed the money. However, what she did not count on, really neither of them counted on was their immediate attraction to each other. Therefore, Caroline pretended to be Dani Sinclair, the woman he believed he hired, the woman he was paying $1,000 to be his girlfriend and help him seal this very important deal. Lucas wanted this over, signed, sealed, and delivered. He was impatient and shortly after they determined who each other were, they got off to a bad start. Words were fired back and forth and then, she agreed to the girlfriend and interpreter arrangement. Success in more ways than one, a billion dollar deal and the woman he had wanted all night in his limo and kissing her senseless, still believing she was Dani Sinclair.

Lucas Viera was a man of mystery, a hard man, a self-made man who grew up poor in Rio, a mother that had abandoned him and he grew up living in the streets and eating out of trashcans. A man who a couple ended up taking him to North America.  However, that did not last and he ended up making his way on his own. In short, he was the only reason he was such a success. However, he was not the only one who was a mystery, so was Caroline who was known to him as Dani. The same woman he made love to, the same who left his home during the wee hours of the morning after hours of lovemaking. Can you imagine the surprise when he tracked down Dani Sinclair and found out that she was not Dani; she was in fact, Caroline and was receiving her payment. Only to discover that Dani was a call girl and so he believed Caroline was in the same profession as well. He was furious because he believed she traded sex for money yet weeks later he could not get her out of his mind!

Lucas would make her pay and so he hired an investigator to get info on Caroline and found out she had an undergraduate degree and was working on her Masters in Russian and Slavic Studies.  He was going to find her, confront her and vanish her from his mind. Well it all backfired, her shabby apartment had been vandalized, a man had tried to rob her, and so Lucas made the decision to take her back to his place but not before meeting her shabby cat, the one she rescued from the streets. It was an interesting time for them both as they resumed their relationship. However, one thing was for sure, Caroline did not want to end up like her mother, going from one man to the next hoping to find Prince Charming. As for Lucas, he still believed she was earning her money on her back.  Not waiting tables as she had before moving in with him.

He didn’t understand any of it, his desire, his feelings and what was happening in his life.  Why he was taking time off  from work to be with her, what was happening here? So much emotion see-sawing back and forth for Lucas, because he figured it out while standing in her shabby apartment, he wanted her and only her. However, in the back of his mind he wondered what she was doing with the money she earned on “her back”? Why did she have nothing to show for it?  Why did she live in poverty? But he was determined to spend time with her so he took her to his home in the Hampton’s. However, like all good things, sometimes they have to come to an end and while reading this incredible love story I held my breath wondering what “monkey wrench” would be thrown into this romance and cause heartache?

Reflecting back, Caroline remembered one thing for certain, she would not end up like her mother. So when Lucas offered her money and an apartment, she was determined not to take it, in fact she took offence at his offer. She had made it on her own and she would continue to do so, would look for a job, be a teacher’s assistant so when that didn’t happen and Dani offered her a job interpreting for another Russian at a New York hotel, reluctantly she took down the info.  However, not before Lucas overheard and conversation and jumped to other conclusions. What a mess! This proud, hard alpha put his foot in his mouth, causing heartache for them both. Reading the last twenty pages was like going on a roller coaster ride as only Sandra Marton can write. I thought it was brilliant how she tied Lucas, the “cat from Hell, Oliver” and Caroline together yet I was very sad at the same time and cried my eyes out. Because in the end, Lucas realized what a mistake he had made, that he had pushed her away, had believed her to be something she wasn’t. It had taken a simple gesture on her part, a small “autographed” gift to make him realize his mistake.

Not for Sale, to say the least was a remarkable love story,  maddening at times but the ending spectacular showing that to love was not a weakness, it gave one strength and lasting happiness, especially one so deserving for Caroline and Lucas.

WALK ON THE WILD SIDE - Natalie Anderson

They were so different from each other, he handsome, rich and charismatic and a professional snow boarder. She quirky, creative, somewhat of a loner and they met in the most bizarre way. Kelsi Reid literally hit him with her car, and after talking to each other, Jack Greene talked her into spending the day together at the beach. Explosive is what I would say happened next, they made mad passionate love and her life changed on that day forever!. Walk on the Wild Side was a most amazing and out of the box romance by the very talented Natalie Anderson.

Kelsi Reid was an interesting heroine. She worked as a web designer, worked extremely hard, and as a reward, her co-workers got together and treated her to a day at the spa. Instead, she spent the day with a very sexy man. She also lived alone away from the mother she adored. She didn’t trust men, thanks to her father who had left her mother for another woman. Her mother was so proud of Kelsi and that meant the world to her. As for her father, well let’s just say he had let her down by favoring his second wife and daughter. Kelsi never measured up to his expectations because she thought she wasn’t pretty enough and for other reasons, her father he never gave her his time. She had red curly hair, freckles, pale skin, and she disguised her looks with clothes and colored contacts. However, Jack found her attractive and he appreciated her personality. And then Jack left because he wanted to follow his own dreams and that was to train and get his gold metal. Besides what would he want with a girl like her? Kelsi thought?

Kelsi was an interesting woman and Jack was attracted to her, so much so he couldn’t get her or their lovemaking out of his head or forget their day at the beach. Yes, he was popular with the ladies but something about her intrigued him. She was different and besides that, he had the greatest sex in his life. One thing was for sure, he wanted to see her again and sleep with her again. However, one thing bothered him, because they made love in the ocean he wondered if she could possibly be pregnant?

Kelsi, was renting a room in an old home which was about to be sold. No roommates, she lived alone so she was surprised when Jack showed up on her doorstep. She was also surprised when he suggested she might be pregnant…….actually she was shocked. So when he demanded she take a test she was absolutely floored to find it positive! He was like a steam roller, he bought her large home, moved in, cooked for her, tempted her, taunted her and drove her crazy. He wanted her like no other woman and so did she and it drove them both crazy until they finally satisfied their urges. However, it made everything worse because they couldn’t deny their emotions for each other. On top of that was the pressure for Kelsi to tell her mother and the possibility of disappointing her.

Like Kelsi’s mom, Jack’s father had given up his dreams. At childbirth, Jack’s mother had passed away and he had to revamp his life for his son. Jack was worried about Kelsi being so petite, just like his mother. Taking over her life didn’t even describe it, especially when he insisted on moving in and then he broke her heart when he told her he was leaving to follow his dream. Was he being selfish? Did they even have a chance to find happiness together?

The ending chapters were so amazing because each of Natalie’s characters learned so much about each other and themselves. A man used to his freedom, fame and fortune was transformed due to his feelings for this amazing and interesting woman. As for Kelsi, let’s just say she learned to love and trust and give up on the past hurts thanks to her father. Walk on the Wild Side you won’t want to miss and I can certainly see why Mills and Boon chose this particular romance as their Book of the Month.

Curried Parsnip Soup - April Recipe of the Month from the UK

I'm currently reading Kate Hewitt, The Undoing of DeLuca and loving it!  The lady of the manor Ellery is serving dinner to the handsome Italian Larenz de Luca who owns many high end department stores all over the world.  Ellery and Larenz are very attracted to each other.  Now since is nasty PA has returned back to London to make arrangements for a photo shoot, they are alone and things are heating up.

Curried Parsnip Soup

This unusual soup makes use of one of our most neglected vegetables. Although parsnips are traditionally roasted with beef, which they complement perfectly, British cooks have rarely made full use of them. Try this tasty and satisfying soup with its hint of exotic Indian spices.

Serves 6

40 g (1 1/2 oz) English butter

1 medium onion, skinned and sliced

700 g (1 1/2 lb) parsnips, peeled and finely diced

5 ml (1 level tsp) curry powder

2.5 ml (1/2 level tsp) ground cumin

1.4 litres (2 1/2 pints) chicken stock

salt and freshly ground pepper

150 ml (5 fl oz) fresh single cream

paprika to garnish

1. Heat the butter in the base of a large pan and fry the onion and parsnip together for about 3 minutes.

2. Stir in the curry powder and cumin and fry for a further 2 minutes.

3. Add the stock, bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer covered for about 45 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.

4. Cool slightly, then use a perforated draining spoon to place the vegetables in a blender, add a little stock; puree until smooth.

5. Return to the pan. Adjust seasoning, add the fresh cream and reheat to serving temperature but do not boil. Serve sprinkled with paprika.
